Will Vehicle Mileage-Rates Increase?
Here’s a tax tidbit from Ron Mueller’s newsletter…
WILL WE SEE AN INCREASE IN THE VEHICLE MILEAGE-RATE?
It could happen. The IRS is looking at it. Last year when prices spiked due to Hurricane Katrina, they increased the rates by 20%, effective Sept. 1. Then they dropped the rate back to 44.5 cents/mile as of Jan. 1 of this year in anticipation that we had already seen the peak in prices. Since they were obviously wrong (unfortunately), they may hike the rate again.
You might want to re-read Chapter 7 of “It’s How Much You KEEP, That Counts! Not How much you Make.” That chapter is called “The Key to You Biggest Single Deduction May Be in Your Ignition.”
